Paris
The late Simon Wiesenthal compiled a calendar of Man’s inhumanity to Man,entitled, “Every Day a Memorial Day”.
“Every Day a Celebration Day”, focuses uponMan’s relationship with his Creator, by listing the religious holidays of the rainbow of faith communities residing in Europe and beyond.
The 2013 edition is further enriched with the commemoration dates of non-monotheistic beliefs.
Besides the main denominations within Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, thecalendar now underlies the holidays of the Bahai, Buddhists, Daoists, Druze, Hindu, Janis, Rastafari, Shinto, Sikhs,Wiccans/Pagans.
Though smaller in number, these and other communities are evermore present in a multicultural Europe.
Our Centre provides this list in solidarity with all believers and, as a publicservice for employers, trade unions, municipalities, educational institutions, religious organizations and NGOs, lawenforcement, the military and all state and public interfaces.
We hope, thus, to enhance respect toward and within faiths, to heighten sensitivity to our differences and to share ourcommonalities.
We welcome comments and remarks on how this interfaith calendar may be improvedand more widely disseminated.
May we all enjoy health, tranquility, fraternity and a year -2013- throughoutwhich, every day may be a joyous celebration.
