Honoring our Brave Veterans: Veteran's Day 2022

Today, we honor and commemorate the brave men and women in uniform, who have sacrificed so much for freedom and democracyaround the globe. Every day at the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Museum of Tolerance we are proud to pay tribute tocourageous veterans.
Honoring "The Greatest Generation" includes the Mauthausen flag, secretly sewn by inmates of Mauthausen concentration camp inanticipation of their liberation by American forces, uniforms, other archival materials and films highlighting veterans and liberators.

Native American twins Bennett and Benjamin Freeny, pictured left, were American soldiers who helped liberate the Dachauconcentration camp. Shortly after liberation, Bennett stripped a German officer of his Iron Cross, pictured right. Both artifacts are part of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s vast archivalholding, currently on display in the Museum of Tolerance.
