SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH ISRAEL

The Simon Wiesenthal Center expresses its solidarity with Israel's decision to go into Gaza as an act of self-defense to free itssouthern communities from the seven months of daily onslaught of rockets by Hamasterrorists from Gaza.

"We know that the U.N. Security Council is meeting in an emergencysession in New York and that there are worldwide demonstrations condemningIsrael," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Rabbi AbrahamCooper, the Center’s associate dean.

"Some demonstrators have even accused Israel of Nazi tactics. Butwhy the double standard? Where were the emergency sessions of the SecurityCouncil when for seven months Hamas missiles targeted 500,000 Israelis? Why was there no U.N. late night sessions then? Andwhy didn’t those same demonstrators who now condemn Israel take to thestreets when Israeli civilians faced daily rocket attacks for those sevenmonths?"

"The 400,000 members of the Simon Wiesenthal Center join the millionsof people all over the world who stand in solidarity with Israel’s justcause. Every nation facing similar circumstances would do exactly as Israel has done," theyconcluded.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewishhuman rights organizations with over 400,000 member families. It is an NGO at international agenciesincluding the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
