SWC ACTION: 48 Hour Update

In the last 48 hours, the Simon Wiesenthal Center has continued to mobilize on the following urgent and breaking issues. SWC has:
  • Called on White House PressSecretary Karine Jean-Pierre to address the current state of rising anti-Semitism - after talking about the “disproportionate”hate crimes against Muslims - when asked about this at a press briefing today
  • Been outraged by the silence of the leadership of the Writers Guild of America(WGA) regarding the mass murder of 1,400 Jews inIsrael by Hamas - while at the same time applauding Joel Fields,Sacha Baron Cohen, Jerry Seinfeld, Matt Weiner, Jenji Kohan and well over 200 other WGA members who have condemned the silenceof the Guild’s leaders
  • Condemned comedian DaveChappelle for his recent anti-Israel comments at a performance in Boston where he accused Israel of “war crimes” in Gaza withaudience members reportedly leaving after feeling unsafe when some of the crowd in attendance began to show support for Chappelle’s comments
  • Commended Hilton and MarriottCorporations for barring two anti-Israel groups' annual conferences after the Center reached out to the CEO’s warning that suchgatherings would galvanize supporters against the Jewish state’s war on Hamas terrorists. One of the groups involved is CAIR (Council onAmerican-Islamic Relations), appeared on the Center’s Top Ten Worst Anti-Semitic Incident List in 2021
  • Urged University of Pennsylvania to immediately replace President Liz Magill for her continuing failure to deal with a hostile environment on campus that threatens Jewish students and the broader Jewishcommunity.
