The Simon Wiesenthal Center commends House Committee Foreign Affairs Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) for introducing HR. 2829.

“This trailblazing legislation, should it become law, would go a long way to help the United States to begin to leverageour massive financial support for the United Nations to better serve the cause of human rights. In addition, it would see to it that American taxpayers would no longer unwittingly underwrite theanti-Israel outrages at the UN Human Rights Council and debacles like Durban. We hope the bill will win the bipartisan support it deserves,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of theCenter.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations withover 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and theLatin American Parliament (Parlatino).
