In response to recent remarks made by Fathi Shihab Eddim that, “The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented,” Rabbi MarvinHier, Founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said: “The time has come for the State Department to inform the Egyptian government that the United States can no longer tolerate suchanti-Semitic rants and Holocaust denial behavior from another top Egyptian official.” “Accusing the U.S. of helping fabricate the Holocaust as a myth is intolerable and an insult to the victims who perished,” Hier said.“The U.S. should communicate bluntly to the Egyptian regime that such continued behavior will imperil U.S./Egyptian relations,” he concluded.
Fathi Shihab Eddam is a senior figure close to President Morsi and is responsible for appointing the editors of all state-run Egyptiannewspapers.
