WIESENTHAL CENTER COMMENDS FRANCE FOR PROTESTING AHMADINEJAD’S LATEST ANTI-ISRAEL TIRADE The Simon Wiesenthal Centercommended the French government for its formal protest of the latest anti-Israel tirade by Iranian President Ahmadinejad when he labeled Israel “a filthy Zionist entity”whose days are numbered. France summoned Iran’s ambassador in Paris, Ali Ahani, to state their complaint. “We applaud the French government's decision to call in the Iranian ambassador overthe Iranian leader’s continued threats against the Jewish state,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean andfounder of the Jewish human rights organization. “It is time for other nations with diplomatic ties to Iran to signalTehran that anti-Semitism as statecraft is unacceptable and will have consequences in the international arena. We applaud the new proactive steps in thisarea taken by President Sarkozy and Foreign Minister Kouchner,”Hier concluded.
