Dear Mr Director-General,

On behalf of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, permit me to congratulate you regarding the UNESCO General Conferenceresolution on Holocaust education and commemoration.

You alluded to this resolution in your speech last month, at our New York Tolerance Center, in launching the jointUNESCO - Wiesenthal Centre volume, "Antisemitism - The Generic Hatred - Essays in Memory of Simon Wiesenthal".

There, you stressed your personal commitment to disseminating the lessons of the Holocaust and combating contemporaryantisemitism.

Our Centre is gratified that, through its many projects together with UNESCO, we have contributed to reaching thishistoric resolution.

The Centre is ready to continue this cooperation in the implementation of the resolution's objectives under yourleadership.

Most respectfully,
Dr Shimon Samuels
Director for International Relations
