NextGen Jewish Leaders Program
The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish advocacy organization that combats antisemitism, defends the State of Israel and promotes tolerance.
SWC offers two internship program tracks through our NextGen Jewish Leaders Program:
- Government Advocacy Track
- Focuses on state and municipal governments, legislative offices, and grassroots political advocacy.
- International Advocacy Track
- Focuses on national consulates, United Nations missions, international organizations, and policy-generating think tanks.
Both 2026 internships will be located in Chicago, New York, and South Florida, spanning from June 15 to July 31.
Program Description
- Interns will receive hands-on work experience in government offices and agencies, advocacy groups, and international organizations.
- They will be paired with mentors who help shape policy, gaining unparalleled insight into the inner workings of government, diplomacy, and NGOs.
- Interns will participate in monthly workshops with elected officials, government staff, and Jewish communal leaders to develop their advocacy skills.
- Upon successful completion of the program’s minimum requirements, interns will receive a $2,150 stipend.
- They will then join the NextGen network of alumni and mentors.
Program Requirements
- Internships will span a period of seven weeks over the summer.
- Participants will be required to commit at least three days a week during regular business hours to their internship, as well as weekly dinner/evening workshop sessions.
- The program will include an orientation led by Simon Wiesenthal Center staff.
Program Eligibility
- The program is open to any college or graduate-level student. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in public policy and a commitment to the future of Jewish communal advocacy.
