In a letter to President Michelle Bachelet, the Simon Wiesenthal Center highlighted growing hostility in Chile against the Jewish state and,by association, to Jews across Latin America.
A recent publication of a viciously anti-Semitic cartoon on the official Twitter account 
ofthe Palestinian Federation of Chile, is reminiscent of the 1930's Nazi German tabloid DerSturmer and, indeed, of Chilean Nazi sympathizers of that period.
The Center indignantly charged, "It is especially outrageous that the official website of the Chile Palestinian Federation serves as a tribunefor Nazi hate... ," urging the President to suspend the Federation's activities pending an investigation into its incitement to anti-Jewish violence.
Sadly, their incitement was a backdrop to the infection of the University of Chile Law School, where the Student Union voted for a boycottresolution aimed to penalize individuals and institutions that have ties with Israel or its supporters. Logic finally prevailed and the resolution was aborted.
Dr. Shimon Samuels, the Center's Director for International Relations and Dr. Ariel Gelblung, its representative for Latin America, claimed,"Adding oil to the fire is the upcoming visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Chile, billed by the semi-official Persian news agency Fars as aiming to, "...foil the Iranophobic plotspromoted by Israel in the region".
The letter urged President Bachelet to, "Take appropriate action to restore Chile's values of coexistence and integration and to protest hatespeech marking a state visit from a country that funds terrorist organizations, and whose officials are implicated by INTERPOL in the bombing of the AMIA Jewish center in Buenos Aires in 1994that left 85 dead and over 300 wounded," said Dr. Gelblung.
"Under President Hugo Chavez, Venezuela - in tandem with its Iranian ally - became the greatest mouthpiece for anti-Jewish hate in theAmericas, spreading its poison through its ALBA bloc allies: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua...the very countries on the Tehran Foreign Minister's itinerary. ALBA + Chile," lamented Samuels,recalling the late Simon Wiesenthal's maxim, "What starts with the Jews never ends with them," pointing to, "The nightmare consequences of hate and Iran for today's Venezuela. Could antisemitismin Chile make it the new Venezuela?" pondered the Center

El antisemitismo en Chile - la nueva Venezuela?
El Centro Wiesenthal alerta a la Presidente de Chile acerca del aumento de la hostilidad contra Israel y, por asociación, hacia todos losjudíos en América Latina
En una carta a la Presidente Michelle Bachelet, el Centro Simon Wiesenthal destacó la creciente hostilidad en Chile contra el estado judío y,por asociación, hacia los judíos en toda América Latina.
La reciente publicación en la cuenta oficial de Twitter de la Federación Palestina de Chile, de características brutalmenteantisemitas,https://twitter.com/FedPalestina/status/766334160776466432/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw, parece una rémora del tabloide nazi alemán Der Stürmer y apela, sin dudas, a los chilenossimpatizantes de dicho régimen.
El Centro declaró indignado que "es especialmente ultrajante que el sitio web oficial de la Federación Palestina de Chile sirva como tribunade odio nazi ..." instando a la Presidente a suspender las actividades de la Federación mientras se investiga sobre esta incitación a la violencia anti judía.
La incitación al odio actuó también como telón de fondo del voto del Centro de Estudiantes de la Escuela de Leyes de la Universidad de Chile,en favor de una resolución destinada a boicotear a personas e instituciones que mantuvieran algún tipo de lazo con el Estado de Israel o sus simpatizantes. La lógica se impuso finalmente y laresolución fue abortada.

La carta insta a la Presidente Bachelet a "tomar la pertinente intervención a los efectos de restaurar los valores de convivencia eintegración en Chile y rechace las expresiones de incitación al odio que enmarcan una visita de Estado de un país que financia organizaciones terroristas, y cuyos funcionarios están requeridospor INTERPOL a raíz del atentado a la mutual judía AMIA en Buenos Aires en 1994, que dejó 85 muertos y más de 300 heridos", dijo el Dr. Gelblung.
"Durante la presidencia de Hugo Chávez, Venezuela - en conjunto con su aliado iraní - se convirtió en el mayor instigador de odio antijudío enlas Américas, difundiendo su veneno a través de sus aliados del bloque ALBA: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua ... los mismos países que visitará el Canciller persa. ALBA + Chile ", se lamentóSamuels, recordando la máxima del fallecido Simon Wiesenthal: "lo que se inicia con los judíos nunca termina con ellos ", advirtiendo las consecuencias que "la pesadilla desatada por la políticaen alianza con Irán de incitación al odio trajeron a la Venezuela de hoy "
"Transformará el antisemitismo a Chile en una nueva Venezuela?", inquirió el Centro.
