WIESENTHAL CENTER RECEIVES NEW INFORMATION ON WHEREABOUTS OF MOST WANTED NAZI WAR CRIMINAL, DR. ARIBERT HEIM
PUERTO MONTT, Chile - The Simon Wiesenthal Center announced today that it had alreadyreceived new information regarding the possible whereabouts of its most wanted Nazi war criminal, Dr. Aribert Heim, in the framework of the launch of the latest stage of its Operation: LastChance project.
In a press conference held here today, SWC chief Nazi Hunter, Israel Director, Dr. Efraim Zuroff (pictured left holding photo of Heim from 1959)and Latin American Representative, SergioWidder, stated that since announcing its new ad campaign for Operation: Last Chance in Santiago on Tuesday, it has received two important tips regarding the possible whereabouts of Dr. Heim inChile.
According to Zuroff and Widder: “The current phase of Operation: Last Chance, which includes an ad campaign focusingon the €315,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Dr. Heim, and meetings with top police and Justice officials in Chile and Argentina to help facilitate the ongoinginvestigations, will not necesarily lead to Heim’s immediate capture. These steps are designed, however, to put in place the tools which we hope will ultimately lead to his arrest.”

Puerto Montt, Chile -El Centro Simon Wiesenthal anunció hoy que ha recibido nueva información acerca del posible paradero del criminal nazi Aribert Heim, quien encabeza la lista de los más buscados por la organización en el marco de su programa “Operación Ultima Oportunidad”.
Durante una conferencia de prensa que tuvo lugar hoy, el Dr. Efraim Zuroff (director de la oficina israelí y principal experto del Centro acerca de los criminals Nazis) y Sergio Widder(representante para América Latina) manifestaron que desde el anuncio esta semana en Santiago de Chile sobre el próximo lanzamiento de una campaña gráfica para promover “Operación UltimaOportunidad”, se han recibido dos nuevas pistas importantes acerca del possible paradero de Heim en Chile.
Según Zuroff y Widder, “la actual etapa de ‘Operación Ultima Oportunidad’, que incluye una campaña gráfica destacando la recompensa de € 315,000 (trescientos quince mil euros) por información queconduzca al arresto y el procesamiento de Heim, y las reuniones con altos funcionarios de la policía y la justicia en Chile y en Argentina a fines de agilizar las investigaciones en curso, nonecesariamente provocarán la captura inmediata de Heim. No obstante, estas iniciativas tienen como objetivo contribuir a crear un marco que pueda, finalmente, conducir a su arresto”.
