ACT NOW: Protest Proposed Appointment of a Leading Anti-Israel, Anti Free-Speech Student to UC Regents

Dear SWC Supporter,

We need your immediate help.

Please join the SWC protest to the University of California (UC) Regents, which is on the verge of appointing Sadia Saifudden as the UC Student Regent for the next term to the governing bodyof the UC system and its 230,000 students.

Our opposition to her appointment is two-fold.

1. As a Student Senator, she co-sponsored an Israeli divestment resolution singlingout only the Jewish State for punitive action and calling for a divestment from Caterpillar, Hewlett-Packard and Cement Roadstone Holdings for doing businesswith Israel.

2. She authored a bill to curb the First Amendment rights of free speech for UC lecturer and pro-Israel activistTammi Benjamin, which violates the very essence of being a member of the Board of Regents.

To date, the SWC's Campus Outreach division has:

• Presented evidence at a meeting with the chair of the Regents’ Special Committee, who acknowledged they hadnot previously been aware of these activities

• Sent a detailed letter to every member of the UCBoard of Regents

This Wednesday in San Francisco, the SWC's Campus Outreach Director will speak at the Regents’ public meetingto urge the UC Regents to vote no to this appointment.
