UN Human Rights Chief Endorses 'GOLDSTONE' Recommendations

Geneva - UN Human Rights Council

  • Today, at its two-day Special Session on the ‘Goldstone Report', UNHigh Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay strongly endorsed a 5-page resolution supporting the anti-Israelrecommendations.

  • The United Kingdom became the first Westerncountry with voting rights on the UN Human Rights Council to state unequivocally in a strong speech that it would not endorse the ‘Goldstone Report’or the related draft resolution.

Mark Weitzman, SWC Chief UN Representative, delivered live updates via Twitter from the gallery of the UNSecurity Council in New York, where he reported that the Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister said, "The[Goldstone] Report is another damning indictment of Israel ... Israel must be stopped from perpetratingcrimes."
