A worldwide campaign to demonize Israel and intimidate students and faculty who support the Jewish State is underway.

During the last few weeks Jewish students have been under assault at some of academia’s most prestigious addresses in the US, Canada and Europe, especially since Israel’sincursion into Gaza to stop Hamas’ relentless rocket barrage against civilians.

This anti-Israel campaign continues into March with a series of eventsplanned including an International BDS (Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions) Day and “Israel Apartheid Week” which will be held around college campuses in 42 cities worldwidefrom March 1st–8th. First started in Toronto in 2005, “Israel Apartheid Week” has only grown in scope and viciousness, sponsored by aggressive,well-funded organizations committed to demonize the Jewish state and de-legitimize the only democracy in the Middle East.

The “Israel Apartheid Week” organizers call the recent Gaza conflict“Israel’s barbaric assault against the people of Gaza” and have planned a series of “lectures, films and actions [to] make the point that these latest massacresfurther confirm the true nature of Israeli Apartheid.”

The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s action plan is to aid Jewishstudents on campuses with the placement of a hard-hitting, full-page ad in some 2-dozen student newspapers on major targeted campuses during “Israel ApartheidWeek”.

Theses ads are costly and we can't do it without your support. We’vealready reserved the space. But, we need your donation by the last week in February to place these ads. Click here to send in your donation.

Reports from targeted campuses are pouring in from both sides of theAtlantic. In the UK, which has just suffered the highest number of anti-Semitic incidents ever in one month, an instructor at Oxford University claimed, “Within five years,Oxford will be a Jew-free zone.” At UC Santa Barbara, a student reported to the Wiesenthal Center that her professor sent an e-mail to his Sociology class with shockingphotos comparing Israeli soldiers to Nazis.

Just this month, the University of Manchester Student’s Union passed aresolution in activating a boycott of Israel. And at Toronto’s prestigious York University, Jewish students were attacked by an angry mob shouting anti-Semitic threatsincluding, “Die bitch…go back to Israel” and “Die Jew…get the hell of campus.” Police were forced to step in and escort the students to safety. Wiesenthal Center CanadianDirector of National Affairs, Leo Adler, contacted the Toronto police chief to demand immediate action to this hate crime.

The “Israel Apartheid Week” and BDS campaign's target audience is clear:the hundreds of thousands of impressionable young people who know painfully little about the Middle East.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center, through its campus iAct program and bymobilizing its staff and supporters are helping to make a difference. At this pivotal moment we need your help to empower Jewish students and faculty fight back the intimidationand violent rhetoric they are experiencing on their campuses today.

Please send your urgently needed support to the Simon WiesenthalCenter. We’re counting on your helpand generous support to make this happen.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Marvin Hier
Dean and Founder

P.S. We will also be distributing copies of the advertisement and othersupport materials to students on campus. Copies will also be available as a download at www.wiesenthal.com and iAct.wiesenthal.com free of charge.
