The Simon Wiesenthal Center today rejected comparisons made between New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and AdolfHitler, Benito Mussolini and Joseph Stalin during New York's gun control debate. “We do a great disservice to the memory of the Holocaust when we compare Andrew Cuomo to Adolf Hitler. All that does is trivializehistory’s greatest crime,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and Dean of the Wiesenthal Center. “Whatever disagreement there may be on either side of the aisle about gun control, comparing Governor Cuomo to Adolf Hitler and BenitoMussolini, crosses the line and is beyond the pale,” he added. The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin AmericanParliament (Parlatino).
