Wiesenthal Center Applauds Uruguay's Decision to Combat Anti-Semitism Adopting IHRA`s Working Definition
Buenos Aires and Paris, January 27
In a course on the subject “Computer-aided Design,” at the Architecture Faculty of Buenos Aires University, a studentpresented her project as a vacuum cleaner in the shape of a war cannon with a swastika.
Her colleagues denounced her work to the media and the Faculty. The University acted immediately on the basis of itsrecent adoption of the Definition of Antisemitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
Architecture Dean, Guillermo Cabrera, immediately repudiated all images that banalize the Holocaust. Following an evaluation, it wasdecided that the student undertake a training program on anti-Semitism with the Wiesenthal Centre.
"We congratulate the Faculty for its rapid action and its establishing clear limits to the unacceptable,"...“Theobjective is not to sanction, if not necessary. If you learn to hate, you can also learn to stop hating.
