Help Teach Youth About the Holocaust

Almost 50 years after World War II, many young people from the former communist countries have littleto no knowledge of the Holocaust.

As one of the leading organizations in the world teaching the lessons and preserving the memory of theHolocaust, it became clear to the Simon Wiesenthal Center that these youth needed to be engaged and educated.

Under the auspices of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Dr. Shimon Samuels, SWC Director of InternationalRelations, together with France’s Association Verbe et Lumiere-Vigilance and Russia’s Holocaust Centre, a Holocaust essay contest for university students from the former Soviet Unionand Eastern European countries was launched sixteen years ago.
