Inauguration of the Simon Wiesenthal Collection on Anti-Semitism and Holocaust at the Argentine National Library
Buenos Aires, July 11, 2019
A little less than eight months after being authorized by the Mariano Moreno Argentinian NationalLibrary, the Simon Wiesenthal Center collected approximately1,000 books composed of essays, novels and testimonies on antisemitism and Holocaust under the name of its mentor SimonWiesenthal.
With the support of the Buenos Aires Holocaust Museum and AMIA, who each provided approximately 200volumes, the Wiesenthal Center received from private donors, publisher and authors.
At the opening ceremony, the Library Director, Elsa Barber, stated: "From generation togeneration, this flame must be kept alive. And the National Library is by nature the place where memory is commemorated day by day "
"We monitor the bookshelves of six Arab Book Fairs and the Fair of Fairs in Frankfurt, to exposestands that incite to hate and violence. In Frankfurt we annually grant a "Worst Offender Award". The Fair authorities ban the offender publishers for violating their contract with the BookFair, which prohibits all forms of incitement. We view the Wiesenthal Center project with the National Library as an antidote and arm against these texts of hatred, by drawing the lessons ofthe Holocaust to combat contemporary antisemitism and racism. Congratulations for this brilliant initiative,” said Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director of International Relations, in hismessage for this inauguration.
Before concluding with the traditional ribbon cutting by Holocaust survivors, Dr. Ariel Gelblung,Wiesenthal Center`s Latin America Representative, declared that: "The books we brought here emanate light. We are setting up a barricade against ignorance. We are fighting evil withknowledge. "

Inauguración del Fondo Simon Wiesenthal sobre Antisemitismo y Holocausto en la BibliotecaNacional Argentina
Buenos Aires, julio 11 de 2019
A poco menos de ocho meses de haber sido autorizado por la Biblioteca Nacional Argentina Mariano Moreno,el Centro Simon Wiesenthal reunió un fondo de aproximadamente 1.000 libros compuesto por ensayos, novelas y testimonios sobre antisemitismo y holocausto que existirá bajo en nombre de su mentorSimon Wiesenthal.
Con el apoyo del Museo del Holocausto de Buenos Aires y AMIA, quienes acercaron aproximadamente 200volúmenes cada institución, el Centro Wiesenthal recibió de donantes privados, editores y propios escritores los libros que forman este nuevo cuerpo.
En el acto de inauguración, la Directora de la Biblioteca, Elsa Barber, dijo: “Generación ageneración, esta llama debe mantenerse viva. Y la Biblioteca Nacional es por naturaleza el lugar donde la memoria se resignifica día a día”
“Monitoreamos las estanterías de seis ferias de libros árabes y la feria de ferias en Frankfurt,denunciando los stands que incitan al odio y la violencia. En Frankfurt otorgamos anualmente un "Premio al Peor Infractor". Las autoridades castigan con prohibiciones a los editoresinfractores por violar su contrato con la organización, que prohíbe toda forma de incitación al odio. Vemos el proyecto del Centro Wiesenthal con la Biblioteca Nacional como un antídoto y unarma contra estos textos de odio, al extraer las lecciones del Holocausto para combatir el antisemitismo y el racismo contemporáneos. Felicitaciones por esta brillante iniciativa”, sostuvoel Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales, en su mensaje para esta inauguración.
Antes de concluir con el tradicional corte de cinta efectuado por sobrevivientes del holocausto, el Dr.Ariel Gelblung, Representante del Centro Wiesenthal para América Latina, sostuvo: “Los libros que trajimos emanan luz. Estamos armando una barricada contra la ignorancia. Estamoscombatiendo el mal con saber.”
