Jewish & Christian Leaders Unite To Urges Disciples Of Christ Convention To Drop Resolution Against Israel Anti-Terror Fence

JEWISH & CHRISTIAN LEADERS UNITE TO URGE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST CONVENTION TO DROP RESOLUTION AGAINST ISRAELANTI-TERROR FENCE

Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams will join officials of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Christian leaders fromacross the U.S. at a press conference to urge delegates to next week’s Disciples of Christ Convention in Portland to defeat a resolution calling on Israel to dismantle its anti-terrorismfence.

"In wake of the terrorist outrages in London and last week’s suicide bombing at a shopping mall in Israel, this resolutionsends the wrong message, at the wrong time, to the wrong people," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Wiesenthal Center.

"Now is the time for all people of good faith to unite behind an unambiguous commitment against all terrorism, whoever thevictim, whatever the cause," Cooper added.

Wiesenthal Center officials are urging that the convention delegates instead urge governments to treat all suicidebombings as ‘Crimes against Humanity.’

The press briefing will be held Monday, July 25at 11:30 AM at the Doubletree Hotel Portland-Lloyd Center 1000 NE Multnomah, Portland.
