In commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Rabbi Marvin Hier, Simon Wiesenthal Center Founder and Dean will join with Holocaust survivors, including one who was in Auschwitz onthe day of liberation, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Rabbi Hier, who has just returned from a visit with Pope Francis in the Vatican, willspeak about the significance of Holocaust remembrance for future generations and its importance in stemming from today’s upsurge of anti-Semitism. The press conference will take place in theMuseum’s lobby in front of artist David Kassan’s Bearing Witness, an immense, multi-figural painting featuring 11 Holocaust survivors, 9 of whom will be in attendancealong with Mr. Kassan.

On display will be:

  • The original Hitler Letter, the first letter written by Adolf Hitler detailing Hitler's plan for the eradication of the Jewishpeople.
  • Two original Mein Kampf books signed by Adolf Hitler
  • "Currency" used in the Auschwitz concentration camp used as a pseudo payment for forced labor
