“Without acknowledgment and respect for Jewish and Christian heritage in the Holy Land there is no chance for peace”
"People, Book, Land: The 3500 Year Relationship of the Jewish People with the Holy Land" is co-sponsored with UNESCO. After its launch in Paris, it went on to UN Headquarters in NewYork, US Congress, the Israeli Knesset, the Vatican, Copenhagen Town Hall, the New Delhi Gandhi Center, the British Parliament and the CCK Presidential Cultural Center in BuenosAires.
It was opened this week in the Mapocho Station Cultural Center in Santiago, Chile, by its Director, Alvaro Navarro, Israeli Ambassador Eldad Hayet and the Wiesenthal Center´s LatinAmerican Representative, Dr. Ariel Gelblung, within the framework of “Jerusalem Week in Santiago”.
This celebration takes place in a rarefied atmosphere due to an aggressive pro-Palestinian activism fueled by the Chilean Palestinian Federation, aligned with Hamas and a universitystudents´ movement.
The Palestinian community in Chile is the largest outside the Arab World (more than 300,000) The Jewish community numbers no more than 15,000.
Dr. Shimon Samuels, Simon Wiesenthal Center Director for International Relation added the hope that “the exhibition opened in Santiago will counteract the current Palestiniancampaign of identity theft of Jewish and Christian heritage due to be launched next month at the World Heritage Committee in Crakow,Poland ...we especially need the votes for ofLatin America in the battle for historical integrity...Without acknowledgment and respect for Jewish and Christian heritage “in the Holy Land there is no chance for peace”

The Wiesenthal Center attended the inauguration of Jerusalem Square in Santiago, together with the Israeli Ambassador, Santiago´s Mayor, Congressmen and local Jewishrepresentatives.
L-R Dr. Gelblung SWC Latin American Representative, Pablo Squella, Chilean Sports Minister who presented them the Center´s program against Racism in Sport.
Finally, the Center´s Representative visited the Human Rights and Memory Museum, concerning the last 17 years of General Pinochet dictatorship and its consequences. There headdressed to Human Rights Groups stating that:“Nobody is born intolerant. As bigotry is learnt, education on human rights is a must.”

Se inauguró la muestra “PUEBLO, LIBRO, TIERRA” en Santiago, Chile
“Sin reconocimiento ni respeto por la herencia y el patrimonio judío y cristiano en la Tierra Santa no hay chace para la paz”
La muestra “PUEBLO, LIBRO, TIERRA: 3.500 años de relación entre el Pueblo Judío y la Tierra Santa” está copatrocinada con UNESCO. Luego de su estreno en París, se presentó en lasede de las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York, el Capitolio, la Knesset (parlamento) israelí, el Vaticano, la alcaldía de Copenhague, el Centro Cultural Gandhi en Nueva Delhi, elParlamento Británico y el CCK en Buenos Aires.
Fue inaugurada esta semana en el Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho en Santiago de Chile por su Director, Alvaro Navarro, el Embajador de Israel Eldad Hayet y el Representante delCentro Wiesenthal para América Latina, Dr. Ariel Gelblung, en el marco de la “Semana de Jerusalén en Santiago”
Esta celebración se lleva a cabo en medio de un ambiente enrarecido por el agresivo activismo pro-palestino fogoneado por la Federación Palestina de Chile, alineada con Hamas y elmovimiento de estudiantes universitarios.
La comunidad palestina en Chile es la mayor fuera del mundo árabe (más de 300.000). La comunidad judía no supera los 15.000.
El Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Wiesenthal espera que “la exhibición inaugurada en Santiago actúe como contrapeso a la campaña palestina derobo de la identidad y herencia judía y cristiana que será lanzada el próximo mes en Cracovia, Polonia en el Comité de Patrimonio Mundial de UNESCO… Necesitamos especialmente losvotos de América Latina en esta batalla por la integridad histórica… Sin reconocimiento ni respeto por la herencia y el patrimonio judío y cristiano en la Tierra Santa no hay chacepara la paz”

El Centro Wiesenthal también estuvo presente en la inauguración de la Plaza Jerusalén en Santiago junto con el Alcalde de Santiago, el Embajador de Israel, Diputados yrepresentantes de la comunidad judía local.
El Dr. Gelblung fue recibido por el Ministro de Deportes de Chile, Pablo Squella y Diputados a quienes le presentó el Programa del Centro contra el Racismo en el Deporte.

Finalmente, el Representante del Centro visitó el Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, relacionado con la última dictadura de 17 años del Gral. Pinochet y sus consecuencias.Allí se dirigió a un público relacionado con los Derechos Humanos sosteniendo que “Nadie nace intolerante. La intolerancia se aprende y en ese punto, la educación en DerechosHumanos es fundamental.”
