Pioneer Study by Wiesenthal Researcher Stefan Klemp Reveals Role of German Police Battalions in HolocaustCrimes and Postwar Failure to Prosecute Those Responsible

A pioneer study of the important role played by German police battalions in the mass murder of Jews and othercivilians during World War II and the postwar failure of the German judicial authorities to bring these criminals to justice has been published by Dr. Stefan Klemp, director ofhistorical research in Germany for the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Entitled Nicht Ermittelt; Polizeibataalione und dieNachkriegjustiz (Not Investigated; Police Battalions and Postwar Justice), the book reveals the massive participation of regular police battalions in Holocaust crimes, which are often erroneously attributed almost exclusively to the SS and its affiliated agencies.

Klemp also demonstrates how little has been done by the German authorities to bring these criminals tojustice.

The book was published by Klartext Verlag in Essen and is available directly from them.
