Senior Wiesenthal Center Officials to Attend Netanyahu’s Congressional Speech

“Our decision to attend is not about the messenger … but rather the importance of the message.”

Senior officials of the Simon Wiesenthal Center will attend next Tuesday’s speech by Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu to a joint session of the U.S. Congress.

“Our decision to attend is not about the messenger or how the invitation was extended, but rather the importance of the message. At a time where Iran is subverting peace in the Middle Eastthrough its Revolutionary Guard, supporting terrorists groups, a nuclear-capable Mullahocracy will pose an existential threat to Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Egypt and other countriesin the region. In the long range that threat will extend to our shores.

The perspective of the Prime Minister of Israel as a frontline leader in the Middle East is one that needs to be heard by the American people and the world at large. No one is obligated to agree with the Prime Minister’s view, but as America’s closest ally in the Middle East he has earned the right to be heard, especially ata time when terrorism is rampant throughout the world and talks with Iran have reached a crucial stage,” said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, founder and dean, and associate deanrespectively of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

In addition to Rabbis Hier and Cooper, Rabbi Meyer May, executive director of the Center will also attend.
