Simon Wiesenthal Center Mourns the Loss of SWC Trustee Sol Teichman

Sol Teichmann was born on September 9, 1927 in Munkacs in the Ukraine, a city made famous by her Chasidic masters. In 1938, Munkacs fell under Hungarian rule and anti-Semitism reared its uglyhead. In 1944, Sol was rounded up and shipped to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland. That was the last time that he saw his mother, sister and three of his brothers.

Sol survived Auschwitz, Dachau, and other slave labor camps. He rebuilt his life with Ruth where they had children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In America, Sol worked hard and becamea successful businessman. Always charitable, Sol and Ruth were instrumental in supporting Jewish schools, community centers, yeshivas, synagogues, hospitals and numerous Jewish organizationsincluding the Simon Wiesenthal Center where Sol was a longtime trustee and supporter. Sol was always a fervent supporter of the State of Israel. “Sol epitomizes Jewish destiny andcontinuity” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Simon Wiesenthal Center founder and dean.
