Commends Visit and Speech at Holocaust Memorial
The Simon Wiesenthal Center, a major Jewish Human Rights NGO commended Japanese Prime Minister Abe for visiting Israel.
“This is a very significant visit,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the 
>Wiesenthal Center. “First it bolsters bilateral relations between Israel and Japan at a time of great uncertainty and upheaval in theregion. In addition, Jews the world over deeply appreciate and view as an act of solidarity, the Prime Minister's visit to Jerusalem's Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. It comes at a time ofunprecedented anti-Semitic violence and threats against European Jewish communities.
Finally, we applaud the important speech he gave linking the lessons of the Nazi Holocaust and the resolve that 70 years later, that such atrocities never be allowed to happen again,” RabbiCooper added.
Rabbi Cooper is currently in Asia and will participate in formal Holocaust Day (Jan 27th) commemorations in Thailand and Singapore.He will then travel to Japan to announce a new Japanese language Holocaust exhibit highlighting Anne Frank and Ambassador Chiune Sugihara’s heroic efforts during WWII on February3rd.
