Simon Wiesenthal Center Calls Out Amazon For Selling, Streaming More Than 30 Nazi Propaganda Films

In a letter to Amazon and its founder Jeff Bezos, SimonWiesenthal Center’s Associate Dean and Global Social Action Director, Rabbi Abraham Cooper is calling on the largest American e-commerce company to stop using its marketing platform –unprecedented in its size and scope – to sell Nazi propaganda films.

Americans Against Anti-Semitism, an advocacy group that combats hate, found 30 Nazi propaganda films that were available for sale orstreaming in their entirety without any disclaimer or editorial content. The films are either on sale in Amazon's online portal or available for streaming on its Amazon Prime video network. Seefull list here.

“These films should be viewed – if at all – in history class where educators can expose the lies of Nazi Germany, itsviolent racist ideology, and its genocidal hatred of the Jewish people. These films helped create and sustain Jew-hatred which directly led to the “Final Solution of the Jewish Question” and themass murder of 6 million innocent Jews during WWII,” stated Cooper.

The letter added: “In just a few days, January 20th will mark 80 years to the day that 15 German government Ministersof State, among them 8 PhDs and sons of clergy, voted unanimously to murder every Jew within reach of the Nazi Third Reich. In addition, January 27th will mark International HolocaustRemembrance Day, with formal ceremonies at the United Nations and Auschwitz.”

Cooper urged Bezos to “Utilize these two important dates this month to announce that these hate propaganda Nazi films, used to helppave the way to the Shoah will no longer be marketed by Amazon.”

“You, better than most, understood and understand the power of the internet. Please do what’s right. Please do your share to combat anti-Semitism and bigotry,” concluded Cooper.
