Simon Wiesenthal Center Urges California Regents to take Immediate Steps to de-certify Berkeley University Law School Groups Discriminating against “Zionists”

In the 1960s, Berkeley students led the Free Speech movement, demanding that all voices be herd on campus. In 2022,Berkeley students – law school students no less have unleashed an ugly anti-Semitic campaign to ban voices of “Zionists.”

“Such a move is what characterizes Universities in Stalin’s Soviet Union, Mao’s China, or Ayatollah Khamenei’s Iran,” charged RabbiMarvin Hier, SWC Founder and CEO and Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Global Social Action Director.

“California taxpayers, Berkeley alumni, and university donors should not be contributing one penny to any Berkeley law school linkedgroup that has signed on to such pernicious censorship. Those involved with this campaign should be sanctioned by the Law School and barred from any honors or law reviews,” they continued.

“Students should be rallying for the heroic people of Iran, for the suffering Uyghurs and Christians in China, for the rights of thepeople of Hong Kong, not aiding and abetting Hamas and other groups seeking the destruction of the Jewish State of Israel,” Hier and Cooper concluded.

“Therefore, we urge the UC Regents, California Governor Newsom to immediately act to de-certify Berkeley law school groupsdiscriminating against “Zionists.”
