Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Reaction to Twitter Takedown of 125K+ Accounts That Promoted Terrorism

“This is a long overdo move. For years, Twitter has been thesocial media weapon of choice for terrorists, with ISIS alone sending out 200,000 Tweets a day,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper Associate Dean of the SimonWiesenthal Center who heads the human rights NGO’s Digital Terrorism and Hate Project.

“The decision to remove terrorists’ postings by Twitter will help degrade the incredibly successful international online marketingcampaigns by ISIS, al Qaeda, Al Shabab and their ilk,” Cooper added.

“We will be discussing this breakthrough development as well as our continuing concerns over racist and pro-terrorist hashtags at outnext meeting at Twitter headquarters next Thursday, February 11th,” Rabbi Cooper concluded.
