Statement By The Simon Wiesenthal Center On The White House Commutation Of Rubashkin Sentence

“The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauds the decision to commute the sentence of Sholom Rubashkin, because the punishment did not fit thecrime. The sentence was an unfair overreach and the President did the right thing, which was widely supported by former United States Attorney Generals, distinguishedjurists, and lawyers,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and Dean of the Wiesenthal Center, and Rabbi Meyer H. May, the Center’sExecutive Director.
