SWC Hails the Raising of the Status of Special Envoy on Antisemitism to Ambassador

The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauds the signing into law, the bill raising the status of the Special Envoy to Monitor and CombatAntisemitism, to Ambassador.

Mark Weitzman, the SWC’s Director of Government Affairs who was one of the first proponents of the bill stated, “Theelevation of the position of Special Envoy to Ambassador sends a clear signal that the United States is committed to making the fight against antisemitism a diplomatic and political priority. Weare especially grateful for the unanimous bipartisan support of this bill in the House and Senate, which shows agreement that antisemitism deserves no place in today’s politicaldiscourse.”

Mr. Weitzman continued, "We recognize and thank Reps. Chris Smith (R–NJ) and Brad Schneider (D–IL) and Sens. Marco Rubio(R–FL) and Jacky Rosen (D-NV) for their commitment and leadership in this historic achievement."
