SWC Announces Appointment of Five New Board Members


“With anti-Semitism & hate emboldened, the SWC is more important now than at any time since the Center’sinception.”
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is honored to announce the election of five new board members to its Board ofTrustees.
“At a time when the dark undercurrent of anti-Semitism and hate have been emboldened in and beyond the United States, thevoice of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and its many applications is more important now than at any time since the Center’s inception four decades ago,” said Dawn Arnall, Simon WiesenthalCenter Board Chair.

“At this inflection point in our nation’s history, and on behalf of the Center and its Board of Trustees, I am honored toannounce the election of five leaders committed to advancing the Center’s mission and its important impact. Newly elected Trustees include Brian Dror, Peter R. Taffae, BernardTeichman, Sanford Teplitzky and Gary Torgow,” Arnall added.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is privileged to welcome each of these remarkable individuals into service and to benefit fromtheir leadership.

More on the new board members:




Brian Dror: Brian is themanaging partner of the accounting firm Barak Richter & Dror as well the managing member of the RCB Equities group of investing companies. BRD specializes in real estate taxation,estate planning and income tax minimization. Brian was born and raised in Los Angeles, and currently serves on numerous school boards as well as recently being appointed to theboard of the Bureau of Jewish Education in Los Angeles. Brian is also the Treasurer of the Ryzman Foundation Inc., a California Non-Profit Corporation, which provides for variousand wide-spread social and educational programs.
Peter R.Taffae: Before starting ExecutivePerils, Inc., in 2000, Peter served in senior positions at Minet, Marsh, and Chubb solely focused on D&O, E&O, EPLI, andKidnap/Ransom insurances. ExecutivePerils was recently sold to a private equity firm specializing in insurance space. Peter is on the editorial board of Employment PracticesLiability Consultant (EPLiC), board member of the Digital Risk Underwriting Society (DRUMS) and an active contributor to Professional Liability Underwriter Society (PLUS). Peter isfrequently quoted in industry publications as well as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times on D&O issues.
Bernard Teichman: Dubby,a California native serves as President and CEO of Teichman Enterprises, a manufacturing company and real estate firm, and sits on the board of Hemdat Haaretz Realty Groupoverseeing the acquisition of properties and plays a lead role in company policy-making, financing, and strategy. Dubby has taken special interest in the future of Jewish educationand has served on the boards of YULA High School for 10 years, Hillel Hebrew Academy for 18 years and Bnei Akiva for 20 years. Dubby currently serves on the executive board of EmekHebrew Academy with 850 students for over 30 years. In Israel Dubby serves on the executive board of Refuah V’Simcha with over 8,000 volunteers helping to improve the conditions ofthe ill and disabled patients with a worldwide network.
SanfordTeplitzky: Sanford represents large health care companies and delivery networks that rely on his experience and deep knowledge of the health care industry to identifyand resolve fraud and abuse issues, and to represent them in federal and state investigations. He advises medical professional and trade associations, negotiates with state andfederal authorities, and provides counsel with respect to a broad range of regulatory and legislative issues facing health care clients. He is recognized as one of the country's topattorneys on issues related to the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Self-Referral Law. Sanford is a prominent member of numerous professional and civic associations. Hehas served on the board of directors of several Baltimore-area organizations, and served ten years on the Baltimore County Schools Board of Education. He is a former adjunctprofessor at the University of Maryland School of Law, where he taught a seminar on fraud and abuse for more than ten years.
Gary Torgow: Gary is theChairman of Huntington National Bank. Previously, he served as Chairman of TCF Financial and Chemical Financial Corporation. Mr. Torgow was founder and Chairman of Talmer Bank andwas also the founder and Chairman of the Sterling Group, a Michigan-based real estate, development and investment company. Gary is on the boards of DTE Energy (NYSE) and Blue CrossBlue Shield of Michigan. Gary is also an Executive Board member of Business Leaders for Michigan and is a Trustee and Board member of the Community Foundation of SoutheasternMichigan. He is a member of the Beaumont Health Trustees and is on the Executive Board of the Detroit Regional Partnership and National Campaign Chair for the Jewish Federation ofNorth America. Gary also serves as the Co-Chair of the Michigan ESG Leadership Council and as a volunteer on numerous civic and communal boards, including the Detroit EconomicGrowth Corporation, Detroit Equity, Inc., and the Michigan Civil Rights Commission, all of which he served as Chairman.
