SWC Applauds Syracuse University for Suspending Fraternities Following Anti-Semitic and Racist Incidents

The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauded Syracuse University chancellor Kent Syverud for suspending all fraternities at their campus inNew York State yesterday.

“For the last two decades, FBI statistics have confirmed that African Americans, American Jews and Asians are the number one targetsof hate crimes in our nation. The discomforting fact is that the anti-Semites, anti-black, anti-Asian, homophonic behavior of fraternities at Syracuse University and elsewhere confirm thatbigotry in America in 2019 is not limited to neo-Nazis and Islamist extremists, but has infected the mainstream of our society and culture,” said Rabbis Marvin Hier, SWC founder and dean, andAbraham Cooper, SWC associate dean.

In a 2018 video, a member of the Theta Tau fraternity got on his knees pledging, “I solemnly swear to always have hate in myheart for n**ggers, sp**sc, and most importantly the f***ing kikes. Soon after he yells, "You f***ing kikes get in the f***ing showers!"

Media reports show that Saturday night, an African American student was taunted with racial slurs and a 6-minute video from anotherfraternity, showed students shouting, "Jews to a shower”.
