SWC Awarded Grant by the NYC Council to Fund Programs Combating Hate

SWC is proud to announce that the NYC Council has provided $486,500 in the FY 2022 budget toward the institution's variousprograms used to combat hate throughout NYC. The largest portion of the funding once again this year is designated through the Council’s Digital Inclusion Initiative which the SimonWiesenthal Center uses to train middle school and high school students throughout the NYC public school system on identifying, recognizing, reporting and combatting hate speech and bullyingon digital platforms and interactive gaming systems.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center would like to specifically thank Council members Selvena Brooks-Powers, Diana Ayala, Keith Powers,and now former Council members Daniel Drumm, Mark Gjonaj, Mathieu Eugene, Darma Diaz, and now Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine for allocating their resources toward these criticalprograms. Each of these individuals have shown tremendous leadership in prioritizing the prevention of hate and hate crimes and toward ensuring that we dedicate ourselves toward teachingour next generation to join us on the front lines in combating anti- Semitism, racism, discrimination, bias, stereotyping, bullying and hate in all of its ugly forms against all ofNYC’s diverse populations.
