SWC Condemns Vandalism and Burglary of Long Beach, NY Chabad

The Simon Wiesenthal Center expresses solidarity with Chabad of the Beaches and thanks Long Beach Police Commissioner RonaldWalsh for the swift apprehension of the culprit who removed Torah Scrolls and Silver crowns. The synagogue, known as Chabad of the Beaches, in Long Beach, New York, was burgled over theweekend, the ark broken, Torah scrolls thrown around the floor and two other Torah scrolls stolen along with several pieces of silver.

Police announced on Sunday that they had arrested Hunter McLerath (aka Alexander McElrath), age 23, for Burglary, CriminalMischief, and Grand Larceny.
