MAYOR LORI E. LIGHTFOOT
Lori E. Lightfoot is the 56th Mayor of Chicago

Since assuming office on May 20, 2019, Mayor Lightfoot has undertaken a program of expanding opportunity and inclusive economic growth across Chicago, with early accomplishments includinghistoric ethics and good governance reforms, as well as key investments in education, public safety and financial stability.
Prior to her election, Mayor Lightfoot most recently served as senior equity partner in the Litigation and Conflict Resolution Group at Mayer Brown. Previously, she served as President of theChicago Police Board, as well as the Chair of the Police Accountability Task Force.
Mayor Lightfoot also served as Chief of Staff and General Counsel of the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications, interim First Deputy of the Chicago Department of ProcurementServices, Chief Administrator of the Office of Professional Standards, and as Assistant United States Attorney.
A native of Massillon, Ohio, and resident of Chicago since 1986, Mayor Lightfoot lives on the Near Northwest side with her wife Amy Eshleman and their daughter.

A high school English teacher at Proviso Math and Science Academy in Forest Park, Silvia Foti has spent two decades researching her grandfather’s heretofore hidden role in committing war crimesagainst humanity and the Jewish people in Lithuania during
World War II. After she finished writing her book, she wrote an article for Salon.com in July 2018 about her findings, which led to front page stories in the New York Times andChicago Tribune, cueing an international inquiry on Holocaust distortion in Eastern Europe.
Prior to teaching, Silvia was a journalist for nearly twenty years, writing articles for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Parent Magazine, Chicago Crain’s, and severaltrade publications. She lives with her family near Midway Airport.

She is the World Mizrachi Distinguished Visiting Lecturer at Yeshiva University’s Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought and Center for Israel Studies.
