Simon Wiesenthal Center Mourns Victims of Church Carnagethat left over 100 dead and wounded;
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is outraged by the carnage of Christians at Sunday prayers at a Baghdad church who were targeted by Islamic terrorists whocalled the Catholic Church, a “den of idolatry.”
“We are stunned by the barbarity of this onslaught. We share the grief of the survivors, the families of victims, and our many friendsin Christian communities worldwide,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Assistant Dean of the Center. “But we are also outraged by the indifference of the international community. The only thingmore outrageous than the systematic slaughter of families gathered in their place of worship is the overwhelming silence at this heinous act. According to the group’s website, the terrorists were infuriated over the alleged actions ofEgyptian Copts on behalf of two women who had converted to Christianity, and said it lit the fuse for a campaign against Iraqi Christians.
