SWC Supports Federal Charges Filed Against Trevor Bickford

LOS ANGELES – The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) supports federal charges brought by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the SouthernDistrict of New York against Trevor Bickford. Bickford, who is accused of assaulting three NYPD officers on New Year’s Eve, now faces charges of attempting to kill officers and employees of theU.S. Government.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action at the SWC, issued the following statement:

“This was a terrorist attack, committed by a radicalized individual who crossed state lines who was also fueled by anti-Semitichate.

“Serious questions remained to be addressed: what/who inspired him to carry out this attack; was he working with anyone else? Whatsteps are social media companies taking to bar the online terrorist food chain that seeks to inspire and instruct potential lone wolf and other violent actors.”
