Human Rights NGO Urges Immediate Action Against Mosque Promoting Deadly Ideologies
LOS ANGELES – The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC), is urging the Austrian Authority to take immediate legal actions against a ViennaMosque after a study by the Documentation Center for Political Islam found connectionsbetween the mosque and support for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
The report also details that Dar al Janub has been involved in disseminating Hamas propaganda and has had past interactions withvarious terrorist organizations. The mosque, particularly through its imam, seems to target young men with its messages, which contributes to the spread of radical ideas.
SWC issued the following statement in response to this report:
“The SWC urges Austrian authorities to immediately shut down Dar al Janub, an association based in Vienna with links to Hamas. Itspreads the Hamas genocidal, anti-Semitic narrative. Austria must NEVER give a platform to any individual or institution spreading the cancer of Jew-hatred. Dar al Janub must be shutdown."
Dar al Janub faces controversy for promoting radical activists and has been criticized for anti-Semitic tendencies. The mosque iscurrently under investigation as part of a larger probe into the Muslim Brotherhood's activities in Austria.
