UPDATE: Illinois Investment Policy (IIP) Board Votes to Place Unilever on Illinois Divestment List

CHICAGO– The Illinois Investment Policy (IIP) Board just voted unanimously in favor of adding Unilever on the Illinois Divestment list.

"This development which now places Illinois among the major states of New York, New Jersey, Arizona snd others, is sending a messageto Unilever that it has choice of either reversing Ben & Jerry's illegal and immoral boycott of East Jerusalem and West Bank or face hundreds of millions of dollars of losses economically. TheSimon Wiesenthal Center is is urging Unilever to do the right thing and now the Illinois Board has added its full voice unmistakably, either reverse the boycott or get rid of Ben & Jerry'saltogether," stated Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the SWC’s Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action.

"Alison Pure-Slovin, Midwest region director for SWC, was present at the meetingtoday in Chicago and spoke on behalf of the 400,000 members of the Wiesenthal Center urging the board to do the right thing and they have," concluded Cooper.
