The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauded today’s vote by the United Nations Security Council that sets new sanctions against Iran.
“The Security Council did the right thing and this is certainly an important step in the right direction,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and Dean of the Wiesenthal Center. “But it would bedoubtful that this would be the decisive blow that would force Iran to drop its policy to acquire nuclear weapons,” he added.
“The Center urges the U.S. and the European Union to implement tougher new measures aimed at banks and other financial institutions which are propping up Iran’s nuclear appetites,” Hierconcluded.
