Wiesenthal Center Denounces Nobel Prize Appeal For Anti-Israel BDS Movement

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is denouncing the call by a Norwegian politician to nominate the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Sanctions, and Divestment)Movement for the Nobel Peace Prize. In a statement picked up by the Inter Press News Agency, Bjørnar Moxnes, who leads Norway’s Red Party, said, “The BDS Movement’s aims and aspirations for basichuman rights are irreproachable,” and awarding the Nobel to them would be “a powerful sign demonstrating that the international community is committed to supporting a just peace in the MiddleEast.”

Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said that instead of the Peace Prize, the BDS movement deserves “theaward for spreading malicious propaganda, universal hate and anti-Semitism.”
