In a Buenos Aires meeting with Argentine Ambassador to UNESCO, Dr. Rodolfo Terragno, the Simon Wiesenthal Center vigorously protested thedelegation's vote, last April, for a resolution denying Jewish ties to the Western Wall and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
The Center, in a meeting in May with President Macri, had called on Argentina to reverse its vote at the next UNESCO Executive Board and WorldHeritage Committee meetings in Paris in October.

Dr. Shimon Samuels, the Center's Director for International Relations, had urged Argentina, "As a friend of Israel and the Jewish people, -join a caucus of integrity - so far composed of Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom and United States - which voted against the theft of Jewish heritage or, in the case ofFrance and Brazil, expressed regret for their vote... We also made clear that abstentions were not an option, as they are not counted. In fact, an abstention would only endorse thetheft."
Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Latin American Representative of the Center, reported, "Ambassador Terragno made clear that the document voted in April -before he joined the Delegation, included, "language inadmissible for an international organization," adding, "Argentina will propose an alternative [balanced] document for the next session."Gelblung argued, "It is unacceptable that an institution created to promote culture, education and heritage would express a totally biased resolution in favor of one narrative, denying thehistory of others."
"Heritage has become a battlefield," claimed Center officials.

El Centro Wiesenthal espera que Argentina vote contra la islamización de la herencia judía en el Consejo Ejecutivo de la UNESCO en París y elComité del Patrimonio Mundial en octubre
En una reunión en Buenos Aires con el embajador argentino ante la UNESCO, el Dr. Rodolfo Terragno, el Centro Simon Wiesenthal protestó enérgicamente por el voto de ladelegación, en abril pasado, a favor de una resolución que niega los lazos judíos con el Muro de los Lamentos y el Monte del Templo en Jerusalén.

El Centro, en una reunión en mayo con el Presidente Macri, había pedido que Argentina cambie su voto en el Comité Ejecutivo de la UNESCO y enel Comité del Patrimonio Mundial en París en octubre.
El Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro, había instado a Argentina, "como un amigo de Israel y el pueblojudío, a unirse a un Comité de la Integridad - hasta ahora compuesto de Estonia, Lituania, Alemania, Países Bajos, Reino Unido y Estados Unidos - Estados que votaron contra el robo de la herenciajudía o, en el caso de Francia y Brasil, expresaron su pesar por su voto. También dejó claro que las abstenciones no eran una opción, ya que no se cuentan. De hecho, con una abstención seaprobará el robo "
Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Representante para América Latina del Centro, informó que el Embajador Terragno hizo evidente que el documento votado enabril - antes de unirse a la delegación-, incluyó "lenguaje inadmisible para una organización internacional" agregando que "Argentina va a proponer un documento alternativo y equilibrado para lapróxima sesión". Gelblung argumentó que "es inaceptable que una institución creada para promover la cultura, la educación y el patrimonio exprese una resolución totalmente sesgada a favor de unanarrativa, negando la historia de los demás".
"El patrimonio se ha convertido en un campo de batalla", concluyeron los funcionarios del Centro.
