The Simon Wiesenthal Center welcomed today’s announcement that the government of Canada is officially adopting the InternationalHolocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism.
Mark Weitzman, the SWC!’s Director of Government Affairs who introduced and partnered with the late Romanian IHRA Chair, Amb.Mihnea Constantinescu to steer the Definition to adoption by IHRA said “Canada’s adoption of the Working Definition represents a significant commitment to fighting antisemitism. Byjoining the twelve other countries that have adopted the Definition Canada has clearly shown the importance and utility of the Definition. We commend the Government of Canada for taking thisimportant step and thank them as well for their leadership in IHRA’s adoption of the Working Definition of Holocaust Denial and Distortion during the Canadian IHRA Chairmanship in2013.”
