Wiesenthal Center Mourns Passing Of Samuel Belzberg, Founding Board Chairman

The Simon Wiesenthal Center mourns the passing of Samuel Belzberg z”l, the Vancouver philanthropist who was the Founding Chairman of itsBoard of Trustees.

“Without Sam Belzberg and the Belzberg family, I would never have been able to start the Simon Wiesenthal Center,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and Dean of the Los Angeles-based NGO. “He wasthe founding chairman of the board of trustees of the Center from 1978 to 2000 and the founding chairman of Yeshiva University High Schools of Los Angeles where thousands of young men and womenreceive their Jewish education. We express our condolences to Frances, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,” Rabbi Hier added.

“Today, the Center is one of the largest Jewish organizations in the world. Sam was both a visionary and proud Jew. He will be deeply missed by all of us at the Center,” Rabbi Hier concluded.
