Wiesenthal Center Welcomes Publication of Mūsiškiai; Kelionė Su Priešu (Our People; Journey With an Enemy) in Lithuania

Jerusalem – The Simon Wiesenthal Center today welcomed the publication in Lithuania this week of MÅ«siškiai; Kelionė Su Priešu (Our People; Journey With an Enemy) by Ruta Vanagaite and the Center's Dr. EfraimZuroff which deals with the complicity of Lithuanians in Holocaust crimes and the current efforts of the Lithuanian government to hide or minimize the role of Lithuanian collaborators during theHolocaust.

According to Associate Dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper:

"In view of the increased danger posed by Holocaust distortion in Eastern Europe, we hope that publication of MÅ«siškiai will be an important milestone in ensuring the accuracy of thehistorical narrative of the Shoah in Lithuania.

"This book is an unprecedented undertaking, pairing a renowned Lithuanian author Ruta Vanagaite together with the Center’s Nazi Hunter,Efraim Zuroff. With great commitment and integrity, they present an accurate description of very painful historic issues. We hope its publication will mark the beginning of a much more honesttreatment of the subject by the Lithuanian authorities."
