Memo to Next President: Make Energy Security #1 Priority

Demand an Energy Independent America - Act Now

As the Democratic and Republican conventions convene, both presidential candidates will solidify key policy priorities for the upcoming election. Energy policy issure to be mentioned – but we need a commitment for strong bi-partisan leadership to address America ’s number one national security threat. In 2009, will Iran , Venezuela and Saudi Arabia continue to profit from our dependenceon oil? Will our leaders act or stand by as oil-rich nations wield their vast oil deposits as a powerful weapon, threatening America’s security, our democratic values, and ourallies, including Israel?

Send this Urgent-Action Petition to both Presidential candidates, Senators McCain and Obama. Demand that thenext President and Congress break the gridlock in Washington and rapidly implement a bipartisan Energy Security plan. Our political leaders must take steps to secure our energyfuture by exploring all energy alternatives.

As reported in our upcoming Response magazine, our country’s unquenchable thirst for imported oil will cost the U.S. $700 billion in 2008. Vast sums of this bounty go tosupport extremist clerics and madrassas, fund terrorist training camps, and pursue rogue nuclear programs. These petrodollars, coming directly out of our pockets, also emboldencruel and corrupt dictators and their cronies.

Regardless of your political perspective we must act together, to demand a coherent plan for energy security for our nation. Sign our Urgent-ActionPetitions to both presidential candidates now. In addition to your email, we will personally present both candidates our collective demand for strong bi-partisan action.

We can and will make a huge difference -- by acting right away we can help safeguard our future and that of generations to come. And after signing the petition, please use the forward-to-a-friend function to send this important message to your friends and family today.
