SWC Calls on Ahmadinejad’s Hosts in Name of Latin American Solidarity: “Demand Extradition of Iranians Implicated in Argentine Jewish Center Bombing”

The Simon Wiesenthal Center urged the Presidents of Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela – this week’s hosts of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – to demand the extradition to Argentina ofthe Iranians implicated in the 1994 AMIA Jewish Center terrorist attack.

In letters to Presidents Raul Castro (Cuba), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua) and Hugo Chávez (Venezuela), Dr. Shimon Samuels (Director for International Relations ofthe Wiesenthal Center) and Sergio Widder (Director for Latin America), drew attention to “Ahmadinejad’s repeated denial of the Holocaust and expressions of genocidal intent to wipe theState of Israel off the map.”

“Two Argentine Presidents have accused Iran, from the UN General Assembly podium, of complicity in the worst antisemitic pogrom since the Holocaust, leaving 85 dead and hundreds maimed.It is high time that Argentine arrest warrants, endorsed by INTERPOL, against seven Iranian citizens – that include current Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi – be honored,” noted Samuels.

“We urge the host countries to show Latin American solidarity and stress to the Iranian President their support for Argentina’s extradition request. We also call on their leaders tocondemn Ahmadinejad’s Holocaust denial and genocidal threats against Israel,” added Widder.

“To honor this hatemonger with impunity renders his hosts complicit in his hatecrimes”, concluded the Center’s officials.

Solidaridad latinoamericana: el Centro Wiesenthal solicita a anfitriones de Ahmadinejad en la región que exijan la presentación ante la justicia de los sospechosos por el ataqueterrorista contra la AMIA

El Centro Simon Wiesenthal urgió a los presidentes de Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua y Venezuela, países anfitriones del presidente iraní Mahmoud Ahmadinejad durante esta semana, a que exijanla extradición hacia Argentina de los iraníes implicados en el ataque terrorista del año 1994 contra la AMIA, en Buenos Aires.

En cartas a los presidentes Raúl Castro (Cuba), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua) y Hugo Chávez (Venezuela), el Dr. Shimon Samuels (Director de Relaciones Internacionalesdel Centro Wiesenthal) y Sergio Widder (Director para América Latina), destacaron que “de forma reiterada, Ahmadinejad ha negado el Holocausto y ha manifestado sus intenciones genocidasde eliminar del mapa al Estado de Israel”.

“Dos presidentes argentinos han acusado a Irán, desde el podio de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, por su complicidad en el peor pogrom antisemita desde el Holocausto, queprovocó la muerte de 85 personas y cientos de heridos. Ya es hora que los pedidos de captura emitidos por Argentina y refrendados por INTERPOL, contra siete ciudadanos iraníes –incluyendo al actual ministro de Defensa, Ahmad Vahidi – sean obedecidos”, señaló Samuels.

“En nombre de la solidaridad latinoamericana, pedimos que sus anfitriones le hagan saber a Ahmadinejad que apoyan el pedido de la justicia argentina. Les solicitamos también que condenenla negación del Holocausto y sus amenazas genocidas contra Israel”, agregó Widder.

“Honrar a este traficante del odio con impunidad involucra a sus anfitriones como cómplices”, concluyeron los directivos del Centro.
