Renews Call for Investigation to Bring Perpetrators to Justice

The Simon Wiesenthal Center commended the Congressional approval of compensation for the families of the victims - both killed and wounded - of the terrorist attack 
against the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, on March 17, 1992 (see photo). The law was approved unanimously by theSenate.
“We applaud this landmark decision which sets a jurisprudential basis for all families of victims of international terrorism, and we encourage the Argentine Congress to apply the same principlein the case of the AMIA Jewish Center bombing of 1994,” commented Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director for International Relations of the Wiesenthal Center.
“It is almost two decades since the bombing of the Israeli Embassy, and consider that compensation must go hand in hand with justice. Closure requires a state investigation to identify theperpetrators and bring them to trial,” added Sergio Widder, the Center’s Director for Latin America.

El Centro Wiesenthal elogia la aprobación parlamentaria de un resarcimiento para familias de las víctimas del atentado terrorista contra la Embajada de Israel en BuenosAires
Renueva el reclamo de una investigación que conduzca a los responsables ante la justicia
El Centro Simon Wiesenthal elogió la aprobación por parte del Congreso argentino de una ley que establece resarcimientos para familiares de víctimas del ataque terrorista contra la Embajada deIsrael en Buenos Aires, ocurrido el 17 de marzo de 1992. La ley, aprobada de manera unánime por el Senado, establece compensaciones para familias de víctimas fatales y de heridos.
“Elogiamos esta decisión que sienta un precedente jurisprudencial para todas las familias de víctimas del terrorismo internacional, y anhelamos que el Congreso argentino aplique este mismocriterio para el caso del ataque contra la AMIA”, señaló el Dr. Shimon Samuels, Director de Relaciones Internacionales del Centro Simon Wiesenthal.
“A casi dos décadas del ataque contra la Embajada de Israel, esta compensación debe ir de la mano de una investigación por parte del Estado, que identifique a quienes lo cometieron y los lleveante la justicia”, agregó Sergio Widder, Director para América Latina del Centro.
