The University of Pernambuco suspended a talk on ‘Peace in the Middle East’, due to serious threats, reportedly emanatingfrom the Palestinian Alliance - Recife against speaker André Lajst and the moderator, Professor Karl Schurster, cancelled by the University.
Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Simon Wiesenthal Center´s Latin American Representative spoke with Lajst to show solidarity, whosaid: “The Pro-Palestinian group organizes conferences presnting their vision but, in turn militates against speakers, even when they are notspokesmen for Israel's position in the conflict. The organizers of the event had invited the Palestinian Alliance - Recife for a peaceful, democratic and respectful dialogue. They not onlyrefused to participate, but according to social networks, they organized a boycott of the discussion, whereupon, the moderator and the University, followed outrageous threats from another‘Muslim Pro-Palestinian Association of Recife’ seemingly unregistered ”

El Centro Wiesenthal Denuncia Cancelación de Conferencia sobre Paz en Medio Oriente en laUniversidad de Pernambuco, Brasil, Debido a Amenazas Pro-Palestinas.

La Universidad de Pernambuco debió suspender una charla sobre "El Proceso de Paz en el Medio Oriente",debido a serias amenazas, que según los informes, emanan de la Alianza Palestina-Recife contra el orador André Lajst, el moderador, el profesor Karl Schurster y a la organización de laUniversidad.
El Dr. Ariel Gelblung, Representante del Centro Wiesenthal para América Latina habló con Lajst parasolidarizarse y este sostuvo que “el grupo Pro-Palestino organiza conferencias exponiendo su visión y citando como pantalla de contraparte, a un orador que nada tiene que ver con lapostura de Israel en el conflicto. Por su parte, al organizar el evento, invitaron a la Alianza Palestina - Recife para un diálogo pacífico, democrático y respetuoso. Esta no solo rehusó laparticipación, sino que según sus redes sociales, organizó el boicot de la conferencia. Al no tener éxito, el orador, el moderador y la Universidad recibieron escandalosas amenazas por parte deuna no registrada Asociación Pro-Palestina Musulmana de Recife.”
