Wiesenthal Center to P5+1 Leaders: Use 70th UN General Assembly to Demand Ayatollah End Genocidal Threats Against Jewish State

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is launching a campaign urging President Barack Obama and the other leaders of the P5+1 (China’s Xi Jinping, England’s David Cameron, France’s Francois Hollande, Germany’sAngela Merkel, Russia’s Vladimir Putin) to use the anniversary of the 70th anniversary of the UN General Assembly to jointly demand of Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei that he stop the genocidal threatsagainst Israel, a violation of the UN Charter.

“The United Nations was founded seven decades ago in wake of the Holocaust and to defeat everything Nazism stood for. 70 years later, anti-Semitism has reemerged as a global threat to the Jewishpeople—led by the Iranian regime,” charged Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Dean and Founder and Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a leading Jewish Human Rights NGO.

“Throughout the entire negotiations of the Iran Nuclear deal, the Ayatollah and his lackeys continued their public genocidal threats against Israel, and the P5+1 did not utter one word ofprotest. The UN General Assembly is the perfect venue for such a joint statement demanding an end to Tehran’s threats”, they added.

To launch its campaign, the Wiesenthal Center has placed a full page as today (September 9th) in Washington, DC’s The Hill, entitled “Words Matter. What our leaders saymatters…” go to:
